Udeme Ufot read Industrial Design (specialising in Graphics and Illustration) at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and graduated top of his class in 1981.

He served out his NYSC year at the Governor’s Office, Graphic Arts Division, Ilorin Kwara State in 1981-82.

After working for two years as Assistant Manager, Creative at Desmark Advertising Limited, Calabar, he joined Insight Communications in 1984, leaving as Deputy Creative Director, Art in 1989.

A brief six month stint at Complete Advertising Services (CASERS) ended in the setting up of SO&U in March 1990.

For the past sixteen years, he has been Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of SO&U, one of the leading marketing communications firms in Nigeria.

A firm he co-founded with two of his ex-colleagues from Insight Communications.

The firm was appointed the Nigerian affiliate of the Saatchi and Saatchi global network of marketing communications agencies in 2002.

Udeme has served the advertising industry at various levels. He has been a council member of the Association of Advertising Practitioners of Nigeria (AAPN), and served as Honorary Secretary as well as Vice President. He is a past President of the Association. He has also served for many years as a member of Council of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON), and served on various committees of APCON.

Udeme is an alumnus of the Lagos Business School, a member of the Alumni Executive Council of the LBS, as well as a member of the Alumni Fundraising Committee of the school of Entrepreneurship Studies, LBS.

Udeme is also a member of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group. He co-chaired the 2005 Nigeria Economic Summit Group Organising Committee.

He is a Board member of the Special Olympics Nigeria, and a Speaker at various Seminars & Workshops.

He is happily married with children.
